Energy, Industry and Mining: Serving New Big Data-Driven Markets

Wed. March 14| 1:45 PM - 3:00 PM | 207B

New opportunities are opening up for satellite service providers to expand their business in the global energy and mining verticals. As these industries evolve and become more dependent on data network-centric applications (IoT, software-defined WAN, data analysis, etc.), so does their need for bandwidth. At the same time, as operations become more complex, energy and mining customers want a simpler approach to acquiring and managing connectivity solutions. This session will explore: how satellite fits into a more diversified, hybrid services environment in the energy and industry vertical; how satellite service providers are cutting down latency; and how an influx of LEO constellations could shape the market. The session will also address why satellite imagery and sensing companies are establishing a strong foothold in this space and promising significant returns on investment.
