Closing General Session - Are Satellite and Terrestrial Industries Converging?

Thu. March 15| 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM | 202

Open to all attendees. The road to 5G is a long one but has already started. As we live in a more 'connected' society than ever before, the demand for bandwidth is seemingly insatiable. But, what is 5G to the satellite industry? A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity or a significant threat? Intelsat's decision to team up with Intel could be a sign of future collaborations between the industry and significant telecoms players, but it is fair to say this agreement was not necessarily met with a ringing endorsement by others in the industry. However, in a 5G world, how will these services be powered? How will satellite players work with the terrestrial players in this world? This panel will look to examine the road to 5G and whether it will be a smooth drive or a bumpy ride.
